What is EbayBidderTool?

EbayBidderTool is a search engine/browser for eBay.   It allows for very complex searches, and filters on retrieved searches. It’s for finding what you want to bid on quickly.   A search can be preformed on any subcategory with similar options to eBay’s advanced search page.   The data downloaded from eBay can then be filtered on the fly.   This is useful for attempting to filter out misplaced items, and items that have an eye catcher in the title so that it shows up on your search even if it isn’t even remotely what you wanted.

Platforms

In theory all platforms, its java!  It’s tested on windows 98, and windows 2000.  I’d test more, but those are the platforms I have access to.

Features:

·        Able to search eBay with an interface similar to eBay’s advanced search page.

·        Can limit search to any eBay category.

·        Can filter searches on the fly.  Filters use a similar syntax to eBay’s search page.

·        Filters can have wild cards.

·        Filters can be on title and description separate or together.

·        Filters are hierarchal – children filters must match the parent filter.

·        Filters can display all the results of their children in addition to their own.

·        Filtering is available on seller, or on min/max price in home currency.

·        Filtering available on feedback rating and # bids.

·        Display money in any number format.

·        Money can be displayed in any currency supported by yahoo finance.

·        Displays money in your home currency, uses yahoo for the conversion rate.

·        Place Bids including snipe, bidding at the last minute.

·        Download bids not placed by EbayBidderTool from my eBay.

·        Set watches which periodically update.  The closer to the end the more frequent.

·        Place bids in your home currency, rather than the auction currency.

·        Sorting for the tables are available for Title,Time, Bids, or Price fields.

Why doesn’t hidden text get ignored?

Hidden text violates eBay’s listing policy.   If I were to allow you to ignore it that would do nothing to stop this practice.  Please contact eBay if you find an auction that has hidden text.

What do the auction types mean?

·        Reserve(Y) – reserve met

·        Reserve(N) – reserve not yet met

·        Dutch(X) – dutch auction where X is the quantity in the auction.

·        Buy Now Only – no options to bid

·        Normal – bidding enabled, may have buy now.

What do these icons mean?

·          -- seller has indicated to eBay that there is a picture available. Note: if the icon is not present there may be a picture, but there as no indication on the search page.

·          -- seller has indicated a buy now price.

What do the colors mean?

·        Black – you have not done an action on this item.

·        Red – you are not a high bidder on this item.

·        Green – you are a high bidder on this item.

·        Purple – you have a snipe on this item.  No Bid has been placed yet!

What do the symbols in parentheses for the current price mean?

The format is as followed:  $P(BRD).  $ is the currency, P is the rice, B is the number of bids,R is reserve not yet met, and D means dutch.  The D will not be shown if it is not dutch. The R will not be shown if the reserve is met, or the auction has no reserve.
